Super New Moon in Libra October 2020

Today is the Super New Moon in Libra. What does that mean for us Witches? How can you harness its energy?

The New Moon is the start of a new lunar cycle. It symbolizes New Beginnings; A fresh start.  It’s a new cycle of growth, the time to press the reset button, so to speak.

The Astrological sign of Libra is an Air Sign. It Represents balance, ideas, Justice and harmony. Hence why it’s astrological symbol is the scales.  And Libra is ruled by Venus the Goddess of Love.

The Super Moon means that the Moon from Earth’s perspective, appears closer to us, technically the moon within 90% of its closest approach to earth in its orbit. And being so, the Moon’s influence may also feel stronger to us.

So with that, a Super New Moon in the sign of Libra, it would seem to be a good time to bring change into our lives. Changes that are harmonious, that are seeking balance especially in our relationships, friendships and partnerships. The essence of this Super New Moon seems to be how to strike a balance between our needs and the needs of others. With Libra there is always the idea of fairness, justice and harmony.

So during this Super New Moon Energy, you would seem to want to do magickal workings to bring in harmony, balance and happiness into our lives and relationships. Or open up a dialogue of forgiveness, understanding and peace.

Unfortunately, there is a dark side right now to the energy around us. We are in a Mercury Retrograde, this is when the Planet Mercury, ruled by the God of Communication, appears to move in opposition to our planet earth and misconceptions and miscommunications seem to define its time.

Also we are in a Mars Retrograde, in Aries it’s ruling sign, Aries/Mars are the Gods of War. And you see where this is going? Mars will throw tension and stress us out, trying to throw a wrench in our chance for harmony. Mars will make us question who can we trust.

So it’s important not to jump to conclusions or get into arguments at this time. It’s a time to use Libra’s fairness, equality energy to speak your mind, but with a loving tone or approach.

This New Moon energy will be especially tough for the cardinal signs, Capricorn, Libra, Aries and Cancer, but we will all feel it’s effects one way or another.

There is a silver lining in the astrological energies right now though, this energy serves a purpose. It helps us to weed out what no longer serves us, it helps us to see what is important. It will teach us to compromise, see both sides and hopefully be diplomatic and maybe even a little gentle as we uproot things.

This New moon will show us we need self care, and maybe more importantly self reflection, as that we can’t fix other’s  problems (or the world’s problems) until we fix our own issues.

I will be lighting a blue candle, with peace oil. Setting the intention for a peace, and harmony in my life and the world around me. I will be meditating on the idea of what can I do to make myself find more peace and harmony in my own life and how I can bring that balance out into the world around me.
